NETGATE PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date: May 21, 2026
NetGate is a specialized software project developed and maintained by NetGet, operating under the umbrella of DPLAY-TEAM. This Privacy Policy explains our strict "Local-First" approach to your data, our necessary device permissions, and our security infrastructure.
1. Data Minimization & What We Do NOT Collect
We respect your privacy boundaries. NetGate is designed as a direct bridge between your Apple devices and your gate controller. Therefore, without your explicit permission, we strictly DO NOT collect:
- Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not require you to register an account, provide a phone number, or link social media profiles to use NetGate.
- Server Credentials: Your gate's IP addresses, port numbers, and authentication tokens are NEVER uploaded to NetGet or DPLAY-TEAM servers.
2. Device Permissions & Service Telemetry
To provide a seamless, secure, and stable gate control experience, NetGate requires access to specific device capabilities. We strictly adhere to the principle of least privilege:
- Location Services (GPS): Required to power the "Safety Mode" perimeter. The app calculates the distance between your device and the gate to prevent accidental triggering. Privacy Note: This distance calculation is performed entirely on-device. Your GPS coordinates are never transmitted to our servers.
- Camera Access (Optional): Requested exclusively when you choose to import a gate profile via scanning a QR code. We do not record video or access your broader photo library without explicit user intent.
- Network & Internet Access: Essential functionality. Required for establishing the TCP connection to your gate controller, fetching remote configurations, and synchronizing with your Apple Watch.
- Crash Logs & Analytics: To maintain operational excellence, we securely collect anonymized crash logs and minimal service telemetry. This data contains no PII or gate credentials and is used strictly by our engineering team to diagnose bugs and improve app stability.
3. Advanced Security Infrastructure
Your security is our paramount concern. While your gate connections are direct, the infrastructure supporting NetGate's updates, telemetry, and web presence is rigorously protected.
🛡️ Cloudflare Integration: We proudly partner with Cloudflare as our advanced security provider. We utilize Cloudflare's global edge network, Web Application Firewall (WAF), and DDoS mitigation protocols. This ensures that any necessary service data (such as crash logs) is transmitted securely through encrypted channels, and our infrastructure remains highly available and uncompromised.
4. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Because NetGate allows you to establish direct TCP connections to your gate servers from anywhere in the world, Cross-Border Data Transmission may inherently occur.
- If you are traveling internationally and use NetGate to control a gate located in your home country, the network packets containing your commands will cross international borders.
- User Responsibility: NetGate acts solely as a client interface. The routing of these packets is handled by your local Internet Service Provider (ISP) and international routing nodes. You are responsible for ensuring that remote access to your home network complies with the laws of the country you are currently visiting.
Disclaimer: NetGet and DPLAY-TEAM do not proxy, intercept, or encrypt the tunnel between your phone and your gate. The security of the data in transit relies entirely on the security protocols configured on your destination gate server.
5. Apple Watch Ecosystem
When using the NetGate Apple Watch companion app, your active profile configuration is transferred from your iPhone to your Watch via Apple's secure WatchConnectivity framework (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi). The Apple Watch may establish a direct, independent connection to your gate server if your iPhone is out of range, adhering to the same strict local-first privacy principles.
